PHOTOBOOK CLUB VISITS LAHTI

PHOTOBOOK CLUB HELSINKI X UTOPIAS LAHTI

15.5.

We invite you to bring something in progress. A dummy, a sketch, loose prints, a sequence you’re struggling with, or just an idea for a book that hasn’t found its form yet. This is a space to test, to share, to think together. Of course, you’re also welcome to bring a finished photobook from your shelf, or simply come as you are, without a book.

The evening begins in a circle with short presentations and discussion. We’ll first hear from a few BA graduates from Lahti presenting their book projects, after which we open the floor to participants who would like to share their own works, ideas, or ongoing processes. In the second part of the evening, we move to tables and smaller groups, where we can spend more time looking through the materials people have brought and discussing them in more detail. No pressure, no hierarchy, just a shared moment around books and the making of them.

Photobook Club Helsinki is a meeting place for photobook readers. We gather once a month in different locations connected to photography, publishing, or bookmaking. The event is part of the global Photobook Club network and part of Photobooks from Finland activities, and takes place within the Utopias Lahti Festival. The evening is hosted by Johannes Romppanen.

To set the vibe, we highly encourage you to start the evening by visiting the LAB Photography BA graduation exhibition Threshold at Vesijärvenkatu 18, before coming to Galleria Uusi Kipinä.
